about

Another early 4 track foray, but one that was mixed by Jim Beattie and given an eerie Shadow Morton-esque feel to it in the process, even producing strange harmonics in notes neither of us committed to the tape. This came out on Enraptured’s “Bedroom Ambience” LP Volume One. Unfortunately, some misguided engineer used a filter to remove the hiss, thereby killing the sound of the track stone-dead, as it took the reverb off too. This incident was the foundation of our animosity towards people who insist on “mastering”. Many bricks would be added on top of that foundation later but that’s another book of stories.

about

Electroscope Glasgow, UK

Following a decade recording solo as Pefkin and Phosphene, Gayle Brogan and John Cavanagh are back playing pin matrix games for May, combining the sounds of a VCS3 synthesizer, a 1950s radio microphone and vortex of vocals.
